Understanding local wealth disparity in the Philippines using satellite imagery and machine learning
The study used satellite imagery and machine learning to analyze wealth distribution in the Philippines. Various datasets were used to develop a model that predicts wealth disparities across cities and municipalities. The model showed superior predictive power compared to a baseline Linear Regression model. The study highlights the usefulness of satellite data and machine learning in socio-economic studies as a cost-effective supplement to traditional survey methods.
